House to House Callers

There was an instance last week of 3 persons calling house to house to canvass support and regular donations for the RSPCA.

Residents became wary when asked to complete direct debit forms including details of their bank accounts.

We have contacted the Police and asked for this to be investigated so that we can know whether or not these people are genuine.

People in Worstead had similar experiences. More information will be posted on this page as soon as available.

A really good attendance for the recent Annual Parish Meeting.

The two schemes outlined by Jon Clemo from the Norfolk Rural Community Council have attracted a lot of interest.

Jamie Mulvany has expressed interest in being the registered co-ordinator for the fuel purchasing schemes – however, unlike other schemes where the co-ordinator does all the research, ordering and getting the payments in, under the Rural Community Council scheme – which is county-wide, each person registered with the scheme is responsible for orders for that household. So you can order as much or as little as you like, when you like!

Diamond Jubilee 2012

Following the Annual Parish Meeting and contact with residents, it was evident that whilst people did not want to see precept money spent on a celebration, there was opinion that the money raised last summer was to celebrate the jubilee.

Also, the logistics of having an event on the playing field were considered in some depth, and it was agreed tomove the event to the village green, on Monday 4 June, timing roughly from 3pm to 7pm. We have applied for a road closure for Church Close to make it safer, and rec-convened the committee to finalise arrangements.

There will be some entertainment, and more information will be coming round in the next week or so.

But ………………meantime, book the date, dust off the bunting and the garden chairs ready to come along!!
