Colby & Banningham Parish Council serves the two villages of Colby & Banningham. There are 7 Councillors, all of whom represent the whole area – no wards. On behalf of the parish, the Council owns the Jubilee Hall, Banningham, Banningham Village Green, the Playing Field at Bridge Road Colby, 3 allotments and a piece of arable land behind, on Colby Road, and contributes to the maintenance of Colby and Banningham Churchyards as burial grounds. The Council was awarded Quality Parish Council status in June 2008 and successfully re-accredited in 2012.
The Parish Council meets on the 2nd Tuesday each month (except for August and December unless business dictates) in the Jubilee Hall, Banningham. From April to October inclusive, meetings start at 8p.m. and from November to February inclusive, meetings start at 7.30 p.m. The March Parish Council meeting is preceded by the Annual Parish Meeting, and this starts at 7p.m. All Parish Council meetings start with 10 minutes public speaking time, and there is a further adjournment of 5 minutes towards the end of the meeting to allow the public to speak again.
Refreshments are served 15 minutes before the start of all meetings to allow members of the public to speak informally with Parish, District and County Councillors, and the Police representative.
